Red Sox - Orioles: Back and Forth

Machado Helping up Pedroia after Spiking Him

Through the past couple weeks the Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles have been going at each other. Why? On Apr. 21st there was a sliding play where Manny Machado slid into second but instead of sliding into the area Dustin Pedroia left for him, he slid into Pedroia's leg and spiked him. Machado claims it was an accident and Pedroia said after the play, "I still love Machado". This was not the end, in fact it was the beginning of a back and forth, silent fight.

A couple games later, Matt Barnes a Red Sox reliever was ejected in the Bottom of the Eighth for throwing a fastball at Machado's head. Barnes kept the fight alive. It was just continuous after that. Andrew Benintendi got a pitch thrown at his head "Unintentionally". On May 2nd, Red Sox starter Chris Sale threw behind Machado's legs. There was no claim as to if it was intentional. With how good of a pitcher Sale is, it is assumed that it was intentional given the circumstances. Then on May 3rd, Orioles starter Kevin Gausman threw a curveball at Xander Bogaerts' back/waist area. He was then ejected. Orioles Catcher, Caleb Joseph says, "It was a curve that didn't curve". Given the circumstances it was assumed it was intentional. Umpire Sam Holland was trying to prevent a bench clearing brawl and to hopefully put an end to this fight between the clubs.

This is ridiculous, almost childish. Its crazy that two MLB clubs are doing the he-said, she said type of stuff. The little fight between these two clubs should end soon; we are hoping that it is sooner than later.
